Tim Ho Wan

Lately, the recent buzz is all about the opening of Tim Ho Wan in Megamall.
They're a bit popular in Hongkong but I've never heard about them till now haha
Apparently, their pork buns are top notch hmmmmm let's see...

My friends decided to have dinner there on a weekday specifically Thursday as the sale was happening the next day hehe.
We got there around 5pm and the line was already this long. Good thing there were seats so it's not so much of a hassle to wait. The staff will give you their menu so you could already check out the dishes you'd like to order. In our experience, we waited around 30-40 mins before being seated.

I was a bit surprised that all dishes were really affordable! Everything on the menu was less than P200! omg O_O and because of that we ordered a lot! nyahaha

Beancurd Skin Roll with Pork and Shrimp P120

Prawn Dumpling P160

Steam spinach dumpling with shrimp P120

Dumpling Teochew Style P120

Vermicelli Roll with shrimp P190

Vermicelli Roll with beef P160

Glutinous Rice with lotus leaf P190

lots of meat inside!

and ofcourse their famous, Baked Bun with BBQ Pork P145 (3 pcs)

oh so scrumptious! it really is amazing!
Imagine pork asado inside a toasted bun #NOMZ

Their main condiments: pepper, soy sauce and chilli

Verdict:

FOOD
As much as I would like to give it a thumbs up, sad to say the pork buns are the only dish worth lining up for in this resto. All the other dishes tasted bland and forgettable. Sorry to say but Master Siomai beats out all of  the dimsum I've tried here :(

SERVICE
Service was superb.
Waiters were really attentive and cautious with our orders. Constantly checking if all the dishes were already served on our table. Literally constant- like every minute! Good job! no need for follow-ups ;)

THE MAIN QUESTION
Will I go back?
Although the first visit was a disappointment, I honestly think that the pork buns are worth coming back for so YES! and maybe I'll try some of the other dishes they offer :)

***update Jan 2016

Some new dishes they have!

Rice w/ Beef  & Fried Egg P180
It's poured w/ some special soy sauce that adds flavor to the meal.
I'd give it an 8/10. The flavor was mild and I wish the meat serving would be more.
But of course with that price, it's pretty reasonable.

Pan Fried Carrot Cake P145
My staple meal in HK! though its usually served with peanut sauce there.... so I felt the taste was a bit lacking since THW didn't have it =/

Congee w/ Lean Pork, Century Egg and Salted Egg P140
Best congee ever!
I mentioned in my previous review that the pork buns were the only one worth eating here BUT,
now I can also recco this one!

Mango Pomelo Sago P80
It's basically like Mango soup lol
If you like mangoes, then I think you'd like this ;)
