Namsangol Hanok Village, Seoul March 2015

If you want a different kind of cultural experience aside from the temples and palaces in Seoul, then I highly recommend including Namsangol Hanok Village in your itinerary.

It's basically the place where you could see the collection of 5 hanoks or traditional Korean houses from the Joseon Dynasty that were recovered from different parts of the city and transferred here at the foot of Namsan mountain.

Just bear in mind that the place is closed every Tuesday ;)

Just like any other cultural/amusement site in Korea, the area here is so wide!

Namsan tower at the back!

We wanted to avoid the large groups of  Chinese tourists, so we headed to the traditional garden instead of going directly to the Hanok villages.

Ahhhh peace, serenity and no massive crowd to photobomb your shots! :))

Hmmm wonder what this means (?)

Anyway as you move further to the Southern part of the garden, you will see.....

A memorial stage! kidding =P

It's actually a time capsule which contains 600 artifacts representing the life, society and culture of Korea/Koreans.
It was buried on Nov 29, 1994 and will be unearthed on Nov 29, 2394 ~after 400 years!
Coolio O_O I wish we had something like this in the Ph! =/

Awww <3

The entrance to the traditional villages.

You'll be able to see the different interiors of each 5 houses which reflect the owners from different social classes: middle class, government officials, noblemen and aristocrats!

Love how interactive this place is!
Visitors can also participate in traditional Korean activities like this stick throwing and archery.

But my favorite would have to be the Hanbok wearing!

Borgo Cafe

Tried out yet another resto in Robinson's, Las Pinas!
I really like that I can discover new restos in this mall ;)

House Salad P129
Mix of romaine, honey balsamic vinaigrette, topped with nachos and parmesan.
Love this! It's so simple but super delicious <3

Angels and Demons Pasta P355
grilled shrimps and chicken fillet in a creamy sauce with chillies.
This one wasn't so good as expected. You can clearly see from the pic that the chicken is dry plus I couldn't really taste the kick of the chilli =/
Too bad, it sounds so promising though....

Salmon and Olives P229
lumpfish caviar and salmon flakes in olive oil.
I like this better than the Angels and Demons but  it wasn't something you'd hype about.
I'd give it a B- lol

Calamari Fritos P175
deep fried squid rings in aioli dip.
Aside from the salad, I think this one is another saving dish in our orders.
Well come to think of it, who doesn't love calamari??!!

Creme Brulee Trio P155
Hmm the name was quite decieving actually.
Well all three looks different but there were only 2 distinct flavors; coffee and the regular creme brulee.
The only difference was that the other one had a piece of ferrero on top LOL

Overall, I'd give our dining experience here a 5/10.

Yeomiji Botanical Garden, Jeju March 2015

Another place you could check out is the Yeomiji Botanic Garden.
This is also near the other sightseeing spots I've mentioned earlier.

Entrance fee

The area is very big. The place is actually very similar to Singapore's Gardens by the Bay.
But unfortunately, there are no super trees here ;-(

They do have these spiral trees instead LOL

Inside glasshouse where we could see the indoor gardens.

Photo op with their seasonal display at the center of the glasshouse.

some nature artworks on display...

First stop, Tropical Fruits garden
Here you could see several fruit trees found in tropical and sub-tropical regions.
Bananas, Mangoes, Jackfruit and...

Papayas!

Next is the Jungle garden.
Here you will see several plants that can be normally found in an African or Amazon jungle.

What caught my eye is their display of Carnivorous plants!!

Baby Venus flytraps.
I've never seen these up close. WOW

They also have a Cactus garden which features over 500 species of cacti and succulent plants.

I've always liked this plant since they're very low maintenance haha!
Plus the small ones are so cute <3

What a pretty sight!

Then there's the Aquatic garden where you could see the mangroves, papyrus and...

water lilies!

Lastly, the very fragrant Flower garden <3

There are over 300 species of flowering plants here!

beautiful orchids.

Now off to the Outdoor gardens!

connected to the Italian garden is the French!

So beautiful. wish I could have this in my backyard too!haha
