Gwanghwamun Square, Seoul March 2015

Near Cheongye stream is Gwanghwamun Square/Plaza which I highly reco you visit too.
This area already has a direct line in the subway so it's very convenient to go here ;)

Here you would see a statue of Admiral Yi Sun-sin, who was a well respected naval commander during the Joseon Dynasty.

and of course the greatest symbol of Korean history, King Sejong.

At the back of the statue is Gwanghwamun - the largest and main gate of Gyeongbokgung Palace.
What a sight!  This is what I love about Korea...
They have preserved a lot of their historical sites despite the modern buildings surrounding their city.

Sejong Center for Performing Arts.
I don't know if this is open to the public, but I wished we tried checking since the pics on Google were so beautiful!

And what do you know, there's also a museum!

The Story of King Sejong/ King Sejong Museum.
Don't be afraid, just open the door and take the stairs going down lol

Basically, it's an exhibition hall detailing the life of King Sejong.

There's even a free English audio guide you could borrow while looking around the hall
~Awesome!

The hall is divided into 3 parts.
There's the exhibition room, where you could see the chronological contributions of King Sejong in politics, arts, military etc. and also his invention of Hangeul.

There's also an interactive screen which gives you a basic guide on some useful Korean words/phrases.

Then the multimedia room, where you could watch short films about him.

And the Lounge/Library where you could read more information about King Sejong and Admiral Yi Sun shin.
The souvenir store is also in this area :)

Going in this museum wasn't really part of our itinerary that day but it was such a pleasant discovery!
Do check it out when you're in Seoul!

Cheonggyecheon Stream, Seoul March 2015

Time to catch up with my long overdue posts from my Korea trip last March!

Before we go right up to the stream, let me share some photos I took near the station going to Cheonggye lol

I cant remember which station we went out off but it's so nice!
Perfect place for cam-whoring =P

Seoul City Hall

Like a mini version of Shibuya crossing lol

....and here we are! Lookie, there's even a wishing well in the stream!

The beginning of the stream...

Mojeongyo bridge

So so nice, to have such a calming area like this right smack in the middle of a busy city.
It's really amazing that what was once neglected and nestled illegal settlers, has totally transformed into a beautiful sight-seeing spot now
talk about MAJOR TRANSFORMATION.

It's really like spending time near a flowing river but instead of trees, you have buildings surrounding you lol

the water is super clear too!

look at all those fishies!

of course, i had to take a bajillion photos here haha =P

and because we couldn't get enough, we went back at night lol

even more beautiful with the lights

LOVE.

Buntot Palos Falls

If you like chasing waterfalls like me lol, then I highly recommend you check out
Buntot Palos Falls.
It's located in the town of Pangil in Laguna, approximately 2-3 hours from Manila.

We arrived at 10am, a bit late already since the hike to the falls takes 2 hours.

Another falls you could also see which is beside Buntot Palos is Ambon Falls, our guide said it's smaller than Buntot Palos but takes lesser time to reach.

Time to trek!

I must admit, we weren't completely prepared for this trail.
I was expecting walking on flat ground for two hours rather than doing some mountain climbing!!!

Lo and behold, the usual two hours took 4 hours in our case ~3 women living a semi-sedentary lifestyle. Goodluck!

So whoever plans on going to Buntot Palos, pls pls pls...think twice or thrice if it's ok with you to do extreme mountain climbing/hiking for 2 hours to reach the falls LOL

There are 4 stations/stopovers for the trail.
Sorry forgot to take a pic of the first one hehe.

This is why station 2 is named as such =P

This cute doggie guided us the whole time by the way! such a fit dog. #jealousmuch haha

Overlooking view of Laguna

I think by this time, I already lost 10kg from sweating profusely hahaha

Ahhh, station 3 is my fave.
We ate lunch and drank fresh buko juice here ~perfect thirst quencher!

This is also the area where tourists can camp if they decide to stay overnight.
It's not allowed to camp at the falls due to safety reasons.

Finally, a sign of hope lol

and there it is....

The water coming out from that tube is fresh spring water! WOW
Our guide said some tourists would even bring back gallons of that and the poor guide have no choice but to carry it OMG #crueltymuch??!!lol

closer look
