Dumaguete Dec 2013

Went to Dumaguete after our quick stay in Siquijor.

And my oh my, I was absolutely smitten with this city! <3

Yes, I love Dumaguete <3

Rizal Boulevard.

 So serene and there's not so much bystanders which is really good =P

A must-see in Dumaguete is Silliman University!!

Went to their Anthropology Museum

David Sutherland Hibbard ~The 1st President of Silliman University.

He basically established this school with a $10,000 grant from Dr. Horace Silliman of New York.

Nice!

For some street food goodness you should check out Rizal blvd around 5 pm. 

You cannot miss this as mini chairs and tables would line up along the side of the road.

You can eat fishballs, balot and their so-called "tempura" which is actually kikiam hehe

Another MUST is the Sans Rival Cakes & Pastries in San Jose st.

They also have a branch in Robinson's so you better not miss this!

Inside the store, you'll find a wide selection of breads, cookies, cakes and pastries!

And what's good about this store is that everything is so reasonably priced!

Check out this uber yummy Salted Caramel Cheesecake for only P110/slice

Choco Cinnamon Bun for only P25!!!!! Can you freagin believe that?! o_O

Black Sambo P40

This is chocolate mousse with a gelatin like consistency topped with chocolate sauce.

Too sweet for my liking but it's worth a try :)

and last but certainly not the least, my ultimate favorite Choco Silvanas!

For me, the best one I've tried in my whole existence! lol

Just look at the size, it's bigger than most of the ones being sold here in Manila and of course taste is waaaay better ;)

We also bought Sans Rival but I'm not really a big fan of that evil buttery dessert haha so no pic hehe sorry. It's P310 per box in case you're wondering.

Panda Ice Cream!

If I have funds, I really wanna franchise this and bring to Manila

They offer tons of desserts including crepes, sundaes, milk shakes, their signature ice cream flavors and also hot meals :)

This was absolutely divine! Crunchy on the outside and creamy on the inside.

If Bacolod has Chicken Inasal, then Dumaguete has Chicken Inato

Jo's is the popular resto here for your chicken inato fix :)

Chicken Inato Meal with unlimited rice P96  if you wanna get the pecho part it's P102 :)

Warning though, no spoon and fork will be served (!) 

Anyway, the chicken was tasty but I still prefer the inasal :)

One thing you definitely shouldn't miss is the budbud and kabog.

Plain and chocolate budbud is priced at P15

Perfect with hot chocolate! Get these at the Painitan area of Dumaguete's Public Market.

One of the most popular restos in Dumaguete is Lab-as and Hayahay

They're next to each other and they actually have the same menu. I can't understand why they had to name each establishment differently lol

Baked Talaba P145

This was so good. Right amount of cheesiness and garlicky flavor.

I could also tell that it was really fresh!

Puso Salad P75

Made out of banana blossoms, onions, tomatoes and coconut milk.

This reminds of kilawin though this has no vinegar. I don't know but the taste is a bit similar hehe.

Nonetheless, I really enjoyed eating this.

Dumaguete Express P175

The ultimate dish perfect with rice <3

Same with the Talaba, it was fresh and full of cheesy and garlic goodness.

Chicken Halang-halang P150

Spicy chicken cooked in coconut milk

Similar to tinola but with a creamy consistency :)

Overall, everything was so delicious. I wanna go back to Dumaguete just to dine here again! haha

And for some authentic pasalubong, drop by Handumanan in Perdices st.

In conclusion: Yes, it's not as famous as Cebu nor Boracay but Dumaguete has it's own unique magical charm #naks

Will definitely go back! :))
