Korean Food Trip, March 2015

After several months of lagging with my Korea trip posts, it has finally come to an end! Wuhoo!
Can you imagine it took me 9 months to finish?? bwahaha blame it on my lazy gene =P

Anyway as a tradition, I decided to make a photo diary of all the yummy goodness I consumed during the trip! I already did the same thing last year! You might wanna check it out to know more of all the delectable dishes Korea offers :))

The very first authentic Korean dish we had in Jeju was Mandu (pork dumplings) and Tot Bomal Kalguksu (noodles with sea snails)
~The noodles were a bit spicy but still very tasty, perfect combo with the Mandu! YUM

Samgyetang (ginseng chicken)

It was my first time to eat this and it did not disappoint!
The broth was perfect for the cold season and fyi, there's rice stuffed inside the chicken!

Jjangmyeon (black bean noodles)
While it may look unappetizing with its appearance, I actually find it flavorful and delicious! NOM

Cherry Blossom White Chocolate Frap + Latte
~first time to try this flavor!!!

Gyeran bbang (Korean egg bread)
~aside from odeng and hotteok, this is one of my fave Korean street food!

how the filling looks like =P

Korean Food Trip

Here's a food photo diary of all the yummy goodness I saw/ate during my trip! hehe :)

Odeng (Fish cake)
You can see this everywhere in the streets! I'm not sure if it's also popular during summer season, but it's perfect for the cold days specially the broth!
This is one of my fave street food, literally eating it almost everyday lol

Gimbap (rice rolls), Odeng, Tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes)
My fave combo meal! Eat the odeng with some sliced gimbap and finish it with spicy tteokbokki!
#yuminmytum

Mandu (steamed dumplings)
Sooo delicious. Im a big fan of dumplings so this is also another favorite of mine <3

Fried Mandu +  Pajeon (green onion pancake)

Now this one is my mom's favorite hehe

It's called Hotteok (crunchy pancakes stuffed w/ sugar, peanuts and sesame seeds)
This is really delicious and a favorite dessert of ours <3

Jjinppang (steamed bun with red bean paste filling)
Really good for winter season!!

Beondegi (boiled silk worm)
Some people would never ever try this, but in my opinion you're missing out a lot!
The taste is just like boiled peanuts, nothing unusual!
I enjoyed eating this actually hehe

I forgot what this is called but it's a spicy burger cut into strips topped with ketchup and mustard

Soondae (pig's intestine stuffed blood, noodles topped with liver and other organs)
This one is a bit spicy and if you're not used to eating animal organs, I guess you won't appreciate this.

original and spicy flavored Kyochon!

Soondooboo Jeomshik (spicy beef version of samgyeopsal)

Samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly eaten with lettuce and served with various side dishes)

fruit popsicles
Saw these at the mall and a lot of customers were lining up for it! ;)

pretty cream cakes

waffles and sweet potato latte

Seafood udon (noodles)

Patbingsoo (shaved ice) served with strawberries and mochi
This one is called snowflake sherbet, basically shaved ice with peanut powder served with milk
I was really amazed on how thin the shaved ice was! And the fact that it doesn't melt quickly! wow, what magical awesomeness did they put in this dish??!!haha

If you ask me, the BEST and SWEETEST strawberries can be found in Korea.
Hands down!

Gyeongju + Ulsan

#ootd #selfie first thing in the morning =P

The itenerary for this day was to go meet my student, Jasmine and visit Gyeoungju and her city, Ulsan. It takes about 1 hour from Busan to Gyeongju by car and travel was really smooth as there was no traffic when we went there.

We got there around lunch time so Jasmine and her mom treated us to this very popular restaurant.
It was a Saturday, so the resto was crowded. We waited around 30mins before we were able to seat inside.
But it's alright since there was a waiting area where you can get free coffee and tea. Yey!

It's a good thing we already ordered. When we got seated, the food was immediately served and woah its soooo much! It's a feast!

"Sundubu Jeongsik"

After lunch, we headed to our main purpose in visiting Gyeongju which was the Gyeongju Bulguksa. A temple listed also as a UNESCO World Heritage site

A very scenic pond will greet you as you enter the temple grounds.

I wish I got to wear a Hanbok and take pics of myself here hehe

front facade of the temple

posing at the hallway

Dabo-tap (Many treasure Pagoda)

Touching this golden pig will bring us good fortune!

After the temple tour, we went to Jasmin's house in Ulsan to rest and have snacks.
We were served with the sweetest strawberries and cherry tomatoes on earth! lol

We weren't able to roam around Ulsan since we were a bit tired but...

come dinner time, it was a feast again! Samgyeopsal! wuhooo <3

couldn't get more authentic than this!
This is probably my biggest consumption of grilled pork in a night ever! haha
