Ramen Diaries Dec 2014

After writing the Ramen Museum post, thought of making a separate entry for all the other ramen I was able to taste during my trip last December.

So without further ado, here are my drool-worthy Ramen pictures! ;)

Miso Butter Corn from えぞっこラーメン Ehzokko Ramen.
One of the first Ramens I've eaten when we were in Hokkaido.

Pardon the curry rice on the left LOL
This one was from a random store inside Narita airport.

Forgot to take note of the store's name but this one was from Tokyo Station.

Tonkotsu from Ramen Museum in Shin Yokohama.

From a popular franchise, Ramen Kagetsu Arashi ;)

Tsukemen (dipping noodles), a different kind of Ramen from a random store in Gotemba.
Must-try!!

You've probably seen this one from a lot of Instagram posts.
The very popular ramen from Ichiran! ;
FYI, the hype is real. It's really one of the best I've tasted ;)

The last one I ate from my trip and my boyfriend's favorite is from
桂花ラーメン Keika Ramen

Ugh, can't wait to go back to Japan and eat some Ramen again!!!huhu

Gonpachi (Kill Bill Resto) Dec 2014

Gonpachi is the place to be if you wanna dine at the restaurant where the epic fight scene of Uma Thurman VS the Crazy 88 got its inspiration from in the movie Kill Bill.

It was about a 15 minute walk from Roponggi station going to the direction of Roponggi Hills.
Just a warning, it could be quite confusing to find it as it's literally a hole in the wall since there aren't any signage or any conspicuous display that would tell you it's a popular resto LOL
Thank goodness for Google maps!hehe

the epic scene of Kill Bill

Upon entering, you would see a photo wall containing all the celebrities that have dined here including Maroon 5, Stevie Wonder and Steven Tyler to name a few.

Being a tourist spot itself, you could expect that dining here would be quite expensive.
Fret not as the strategy for this is to dine at lunch time and order their inexpensive set meals!
Plus you don't need to make a reservation for lunch, just go early like what we did hehe

The gorgeous dining hall
We were the first customers to enter!haha

a few minutes later, people started coming in..

So in love. I wish we have something like this in Manila

We opted to seat at the bar area where we could closely see the Chef's kitchen

the view from our seat

our yummy lunch set!

comes with a complimentary salad and juice!

Got the Shrimp Tempura Don -850 yen.
Comes with soba noodles, miso soup and some veggies.

The bf got the Grilled Fish set -1050 yen.
Comes with zaru tofu, miso soup and veggies.

Both meals were delicious! specially the fish! YUM

Ahhh, hope I can dine here again. Missin Gonpachi!

Shin Yokohama Ramen Museum Dec 2014

I can still vividly remember the time when I was watching "Oh Tokyo" -a travel program showcasing sights in Japan which is hosted by a Filipina), and they featured this Ramen Museum!
That was my favorite episode as the foodie in me kept salivating while she tasted each ramen bowl haha

Floor guide

Upon entering, you'd be amazed on how you are transported to a 1958 street style Japan.
Pretty cool!
The museum is divided into 3 floors with WiFi access! yahooo, you can just imagine all the endless instagram possibilities haha

We came in  by afternoon, so the line for each resto was a bit long..

There are approximately 9 shops ranging from miso-based to pork bone and salt or soy sauce flavored broth.

You order via a vending machine.
You could also choose if you want the mini, regular or large sized bowls.
I suggest getting the mini or kid's size if you're planning to taste ramen from each store haha

After 30 mins in line, happy customers!nyahaha

<3

We got Tonkotsu or Pork bone base from the popular, Najima tei. They had the longest line!and in Japan, they say the resto is really good if it has a long waiting line!

Unfortunately, we were already full with our first bowl so we didn't have the chance to try the other shops =/ Next time!

After eating, we went to the museum shop where you could learn more about the history of Ramen
and also buy some souvenirs.

A board explaining all the different kinds of Ramen in each region of Japan!
WOW

Utensils used for cooking and eating Ramen.

Assorted packed noodles from popular brands!

Variety of chopsticks!

My fave was this Cup Noodle Mug! so nice!!!

Sarsa Kitchen + Bar

Blame it on the nice food pics of Sarsa on insta.
Been meaning to dine here since forever and thank goodness, it has a branch in MOA now!

Love how coherent the colors are in this pic hehe

Crispy Pata, Negrense style P495
We don't often order this dish when we dine out but I can say Sarsa's version is really spot on and yummy!!

 Lechon Kawali P270
I don't know why we were feeling carnivorous and ordered crispy pata and lechon kawali at the same time haha. Anyway, love the batwan tsokolate that comes with this!

my 2 faves <3

Tortang Talong with Crispy Sardines and Kesong Puti P210
Such an odd combination right? But surprisingly, it works well!

Chef Jayps mentioned on his ig that this dish was actually a concoction of misunderstanding.
Being that, he requested for each dish separately but when it was served to him, everything was all jumbled up! talk about light bulb moment! LOL

Sizzling Kansi (Bulalo) P380
If you're like me and you hate all those bulalo with hard meat, then I highly recco you try this. Meat was super tender and the gravy was A+

Banana Tsokolate Turon P120
All of us loved this! Crispy on the outside with the right balance of caramel sweetness <3

Sanrio Puroland Dec 2014

So happy to be able to visit Puroland again!
For those who are interested, you could check out the directions here ;)

Also, don't forget to download the discount coupon!
It's only 100 yen less but still, a discount is still better than none right?hehe
They also have an after 3pm coupon which gives you a 1,800 yen off admission.

Just remember though, Puroland closes early.
Usually 5-6pm from Sun-Fri and 8pm every Saturday.
Best to arrive on/before lunch time if you want to fully experience every attraction!

Upon entering, you can't help but feel amazed with the magical decors!haha =P

Gets more and more enchanting on the inside~

They hold their live shows in this area..

To be honest, Puroland is more of a "kids" theme park as it has no death defying rides lol
This character boat ride is one example :)
But if you're up for all the cutesy sanrio kiddie stuff and you're really just a fan of kitty, then you're good to go!hehe

@ the Kiki and Lala area

                                                                Entering Kitty's mansion~

so elegant!

Kitty's living room!
Omg I want the teddy bear sofa!!!

Obviously, someone had too much fun in this area lol

So much has changed since the last time I went here.
10 years ago, there was a kitty shaped car where all the guests can ride and take a picture of.
Now, it's just this sanrio decorated car with a stuffed kitty inside that's off limits to everyone.
Boohoo.

it's sad really. lol

I and my bf's love calculation haha!

Kitty san!
She's so friendly

Shopping galore!

so many stuffed characters to choose from!
I even saw kerokeropi! LOL
Got myself bad badtz maru tho ;)

want some kitty footwear?

handbags?

or maybe luggage?hehe
They have every Kitty thing you need here!

Kitty water!

jewelry

cooking ware!

and what do you know, even cookies!haha

There's more stuff to see but unfortunately, we arrived late so we couldn't see all the attractions...Oh well, maybe next time!

Arigato gozaimasu Purorandu!
See you again soon!
