When in Iloilo: Historical Churches

Often part of our itinerary when in the province is visiting some old churches.
This is my mom's fave thing to do lol
She follows this superstition that if it's your first time in a certain church, you make a wish and it'll come true =P

First on our list was San Joaquin Church.
It's located in the Southern Part of Iloilo in the town of San Joaquin.
FYI, this is listed as a National Cultural Treasure due to its unique features and intricate details.

More info: Built in the 18th century by Friar Tomas Santaren.

How it looks inside..

2nd stop was at Camposanto de San Joaquin.
Also located in San Joaquin and was established in 1982 by Friar Fray Mariano Vamba.

Very unique as the chapel lies at the center of a cemetery.

It could get eerie when there's no sunlight lol

20 steps on this stone staircase to reach the Baroque-style church.
Perfect for photo-ops!!!

Last destination was Miagao Church aka Sto. Tomas de Villanueva Parish Church.
It's located in Miagao town next to San Joaquin.

Older than the 2 previous churches, this one was completed in 1797 and is considered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wow. Tbh, I didn't even know that info when we went there LOL
thanks Wikipedia! =P

Similar to most historical churches, it's design is also identified as Baroque-Romanesque.
Gorgeous!

Anyway, there are many more churches you could visit in Iloilo.
We were able to visit some on my first trip a few years ago.
This is just the tip of the iceberg ;)
